A Closer Look: LED Rails

A Closer Look: LED Rails

It is hard to believe we just passed the halfway point of this campaign. With over 2000 backers, the demand for StageTop has far exceeded our expectations and we greatly appreciate the support from each and every one of you!

Without further ado, I'd like to "enlighten" you with Today's Closer Look...

LED Rails

LED Rails were something we wanted to add about mid-way into the project, but we were afraid of scope creep. We decided to lock the current feature set we had and agreed to add LED Rails as a stretch goal if there proved to be demand for our little project.

Not long after our initial awareness ads hit, we started getting requests for LED Rails. After getting this signal from our supporters, our Lead Designer went to work on how to integrate them into a set of our existing rails.  The Elite Rail design made the most sense due to it being a two-part piece and by modifying the design, we could shroud the light to avoid it glaring into the eyes of the gamer above it.

A C-channel was added for LED Strip to sit in & top lip was created to partially obscure the light from above

The power cord runs up from below at the corner, while the Rail Clips hold the LED Strip in place

The LED Strip seats nicely into the rail without having to use the strips adhesive backing

In 3, 2, 1...

Ready for play!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have here or in the general comments; also let me know what you would like to see on the next Closer Look!

Finally, if you haven't already done so, consider joining the StageTop 3D Printing Facebook group where users will be invited to join the StageTop community and share printing tips.

Thanks again for all your support.
